What is TEDxWCMephamHigh? It's an event, a gathering, a chance for teens and community members to huddle around the metaphorical campfire and share ideas. TEDxWCMephamHigh is the coming together of an audience of approximately 300 to listen to a blend of live speakers and TED Youth videos curated by TED themselves. It's a lunch, a conference, a celebration of thought. We hope to make you laugh and think and connect or reconnect. We hope to spark a flame or fuel the fire of your intellect and your aspirations.

Our Vision |
We envision a day of ideas and inspiration. A day to step away from our everyday lives and engage with people from the Bellmore & Merrick communities. This is a day dedicated to TEDx talks given both by fellow Long Islanders and streamed from TEDYOUTH headquarters. Music, inspiring talks, lunch, time & space are all part of our vision for this day. We hope you will join us.

Our Mission |
To inspire. To commune. To teach, to learn.

What is TED? |
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

What is TEDx? |
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
At TEDx events, a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis and lack any commercial, religious or political agenda. |
